The Best Is Close By

“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.” – Ayn Rand

I was checking out some photos on Instagram the other day and many of the captions said that the pictures were taken either close to home or at home. I remember last year back in March and April when I wasn’t really going anywhere, but I still wanted to take photos. When we would walk around the neighborhood I would take what ever object I could find I would try to make the capture as interesting as possible. This was the best way I could stay in practice. Most of the shots I took were not all that great, but I had a few stick out in the end.

I took these photos at my dad’s house a few weeks ago. I just walked around his house taking photos of flowers in his yard. Taking photos at familiar spots gives me an opportunity to practice new skills and try out some new things. Sometimes you just have to take the camera out of the bag wherever you are and just go for it.
