“Your talent determines what you can do. Your motivation determines how much you’re willing to do. Your attitude determines how well you do it.” —Lou Holtz

I love hiking on trails. I’m not a fan of the insane trails that require some sort mountain climbing; just the ones where I can take a nice leisurely walk-through nature. Living in the city there really aren’t that many good trails near me. We have some nice greenways where I live, and some neat places to walk or ride a bike. They might have the feeling you are in the middle of nowhere, but you really are not. When I can, I try to take advantage of the different trails that I come across when I visit somewhere. You never know what you are going to see on a trail. Some wildlife to great views, walking a trail is always a great way to see what is out there.

I took these photos when I was visiting a campground in Golden Valley, North Carolina. This is one of two trails on the campground that I checked out. I found this blooming beauty while we were walking it. The trail was straight uphill for about a mile. It wasn’t easy walking up, but totally worth it. I was able to see this tree, a stream, and a great view of the valley from the top. The best part of walking this trail was having my son with me. We talked the entire way. The talking might have prevented us from seeing any wildlife, but we were able to connect just a little bit more while we were walking the trail. It was worth it.
