“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” —Laura Ingalls Wilder

When was the last time you walked out in nature and just explored?

I try to do this as often as I can. Living in the city can be tricky, but I have found a few places in Charlotte where I get that feel of being in nature. From various greenways to parks, I try to get out there when I can. When I go on vacation, I try to find places to go explore. This is easy for us because we typically go camping or stay somewhere in a rural setting. I love visiting the city, but I prefer the mountains or somewhere away from the city to stay during the evenings. I think this is because I live in the city, and I need a break from it sometimes. Whenever I do visit someone where I try to go exploring at least once while I am there to see what is around me.

I took these photos over spring break while we were camping in Golden Valley, North Carolina. The campground we were staying at had a couple of trails on it. My son and I walked this trail together. This is trail was straight up hill for the first half, and then it was straight downhill for the second half. Here are a few photos from the hike.

Where do you go to spend time in nature?

I couldn’t live in the city. I would die a slow death.
Nature can teach us so much. It’s a huge living library.
