Finding Opportunities

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” — Winston S. Churchill

If I had it my way, I would be outside every day taking photographs. I would travel all over the country looking for more things to take pictures of. The reality is, right now that is not possible for me. This is primarily due to family obligations. It’s even harder for me to go out during the school year because I am busy at work. This is not me needing a pep talk to follow my dreams, or to do something to change my destiny. This is just me stating my reality. Since I can’t travel the entire the United States with nothing but a camera in my hand, I take every opportunity that I can to go and take pictures. I am fortunate to live in a city like Charlotte, that has so many amazing places to take pictures, and most of those great spots are only a bike ride away for me. I am also blessed to have a family that supports me in my hobby. Whenever we travel, they allow me some time to go and take pictures, no questions asked. While there might be times, I think that I don’t have enough opportunities to take pictures I realized the other day that I have hundreds of photos that I have posted yet. While I wish I had more, I think I am good. My goal is to take the opportunities when I get them and maximize each one.

I took photos of these beautiful flowers a few days ago when I went on my first bike ride through Uptown Charlotte in a while. I was a hot day, but it was worth it for photography. The lighting was perfect that day, the rail trail wasn’t crowded, and it was nice to be out enjoying the outdoors. I took these photos over at First Ward Park. First Ward Park is a small urban park on the edge of Uptown Charlotte. It has a splash feature designed for water play, a few exercise machines, a large field, and a great view of Uptown Charlotte. This is a great park to visit for fitness, fun, and to just chill out.

How do you take the time to get out and enjoy the things that you love doing?

Here are a few of my previous posts featuring this part of Uptown Charlotte.
