“I hope I can be the autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knew life was a gift.” – Dodinsky

Fall is officially here. Last week the season changed based on the calendar from summer to fall. Last week here in Charlotte, we had that one last heat wave. We always have that slight cool off early in September when we think that fall temperatures have started, but then it heats up again the following week. We call that false fall when it cools off, and the following week is known as the second summer. Fortunately, the second summer didn’t last long, and now we have cooler temperatures settling in the area. It is starting to feel and look like fall. This is one of my favorite times of the year. For me, summer ends when I go back to work, and it’s no fun being at work while it is hot outside. I love this time of the year because I drink hot coffee or cold coffee during the day, and it doesn’t matter. I enjoy watching the leaves change because it completely changes the landscape. It always looks different for me each season. A lot of times I will visit some of my favorite places in Charlotte, and it feels like I am visiting somewhere new every time.

Last weekend, I decided to take a long bike ride across Charlotte (long for me at least). I rode over 12 miles. I rode down the Light Rail Trail that takes me to Uptown Charlotte. I stopped at the Uptown Farmers Market to pick up some treats, and then I headed over to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. I took the greenway all the way to Freedom Park, and then headed back home. I took these photos right when I arrived at the greenway. It was great to see the first signs of fall already starting to come out. It makes me more excited for the views to come.
❓ What are you looking forward to with fall finally being here? ❓

Looking forward to cool crisp mornings, camping without the heat and good apple cider.
