“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

I have been riding my bicycle around Charlotte, N.C. with my camera on my back to take photographs of anything I can find since the start of the pandemic. I could just use my phone, but I love the feel of a camera in my hands while I take photos. I have taken some great shots with my phone before, but having a camera in my hands makes it easier for me to capture photos the way I would like. For me, it’s easier to aim and capture what I want to see in the frame. I do use my phone for taking videos. It has an 8K video camera on it. Some of my favorite videos of waterfalls were taken with my phone. I have captured some pretty cool photos and videos around Charlotte with these tools. There are times when I feel like I have already captured all there is to offer in Charlotte, but I find that there is always that one angle, one spot, a change in light, and then I have even more opportunities to practice photography.

I took these photos a few weeks ago while I was riding on the Irwin Creek Greenway. The trail runs out of Uptown Charlotte near the stadium towards the West Side of town. I started going this way more because I came up with a new bike route for me to ride. The city installed these special bike lanes in Charlotte, and I have been trying to take advantage of them. As I was riding back, I found this small wildflower field on the trail. I hung out for a few minutes capturing all I could in this area. It’s a great ride there, but the way back is mostly uphill. It might take a little work to get back, but it is worth it.
