Let the Light In

โ€œYou are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.” – Matthew 5:5

With the holidays approaching, we know that life will start to get busier. From parties to gift to giving, this time of the year can seem to be nonstop. The problem with this time of the year is we often get so busy that we can lose sight of what is important.

As a Christian I believe this season is important because it is the time where we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. How do I keep the focus of Christman on what really matters in my home? Here is how I do it.

โ›ช We go to church weekly. To be active in faith means participating in it with others.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ We volunteer. If you need a step one to keep the season in focus, I think this is it. So many people are hurting right now from issues related to the pandemic to various economic issues. If you are able to, go volunteer in the community.

๐Ÿ’ต Give to organizations that support your community. There are many great organizations that support families by doing things such as giving gifts to families that cannot afford to support making people have enough to eat this season.

Take a moment and think about what you need to do in order to be a light this holiday season.

I took these photos last weekend while I was riding my bike around Freedom Park in Charlotte. I loved how the sunlight came through the trees. That’s how I was inspired to write about this topic this morning.

  1. This post really resonated with me this morning. What a powerful verse from Matt 5.5! Loved your photos. In being grateful for what I have, as Christians we need to give out of our abundance not just at Christmas but throughout the year.
