“Wonder is the feeling of the philosopher, and philosophy begins in wonder.” – Plato

There are a lot of great places to drive in North Carolina. There are several places with wonderful views and great destinations to stop at. One of my favorite places to drive to is the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a simple two-lane road that runs through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Every turn, every stop, and every part of the road is filled with breath taking views. On a clear day, in many places you see the mountains for several miles.

Last summer, the kids went to a church retreat, so my wife and I decided to take a day trip to the mountains to enjoy some time together. We drove over to the Blue Ridge Parkway and made our way to see the top of Mount Mitchell. After Mount Mitchell, we spent the afternoon walking around Asheville, enjoying the shops, some great food, and great coffee at one of my favorite coffee shops in North Carolina.

I took these photos at one of the many places you can pull over on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I could pull over at every stop easily, but time usually gets in the way of that. I try to enjoy the parkway every chance I get.

I love the BRP, it’s one of my favorite roads in all of the USA. That bare-branched tree image is simply beautiful, well done!
