Views from the Top – Throwback 2022

“If you work on something a little bit every day, you end up with something that is massive.” – Kenneth Goldsmith

I love the mountains. It is one of my favorite places to visit during the year. While fall is my favorite time to visit, I love to visit any time of the year. One of the best parts about living in Charlotte is that I am close to the mountains and the ocean. I have some pretty awesome places that I can get to in a couple of hours. More often than not, we usually travel to the mountains. Some of my favorite places to visit are there. Here is a short list of my favorite mountain locations.

  • Curtis Creek, near Old Fort, North Carolina: Beautiful Views that you can see right from your car.
  • Blue Ridge Parkway: No part of this road disappoints. I could easily spend an entire day just driving on this road and taking photos.
  • Great Smokey Mountain National Park: Beautiful trails and views, and if you go on the right day, you will see why they call it the Smokey Mountains.
  • Asheville, North Carolina: A great city to stop at for great food, shopping and fun.

One of the greatest views in North Carolina can be found on the top of Mt. Mitchell. It is the highest point in the United States east of the Mississippi River. My wife and I visited here last month while the kids were away at camp. It isn’t too difficult to get here. The park is located right on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina. The walk up to the top is short, but the air is super thin. It took us a few moments to get used to it because we made it to the summit. On a clear day you can see just about everything from the top of the mountain. It seems like the view goes on for days.
