Let’s Talk About Me

“Love is when you meet someone who tells you something new about yourself.” – Andre Breton

As a teacher, I try to do the best I can for my students by preparing them for the next school year. Before winter break started, I received an email from the head of the elementary math department in my district. She said in the email that I was BCC in, that I was one of a few teachers who taught elementary math whose students did so well last year that I was considered one who had exceeded growth. She then proceeds to invite me to a meeting with the other teachers who did in order to share what I did last year in order to see success with my students. When I told my wife this, I told her that I did not know what I was going to say. I do not like talking about myself like this. Bragging about myself is something that does not come naturally to me. I have no problems seeing and talking about where I fall short, but bragging about myself in front of a group of people is new for me. One of my goals for 2023 is to look for ways that I am successful, and share it with others either in person or on social media.

Last summer, my son and I went hiking at South Mountain State Park. They had some pretty cool waterfalls that I wanted to check out. These shots I posted here are from the journey to the falls. The trail runs along the Jacob Fork River. I loved taking hikes like this last year, and I hope I will have the opportunity to take more in 2023.
