Not in the Mood

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” – Thomas A. Edison

To be honest, there are days that I am not in the mood. Some days I don’t feel like writing and posting photos. Some days I don’t feel like editing my photos getting them ready to post. That’s okay. We don’t have to be fully energized and motivated to get things done. Some days, I am just not in the mood, and I don’t feel like it. Other days, I am pumped, and I cannot wait to get my hands on my laptop in order to post something new. With anything in life, there are days where I am not in the mood. For those days where I am struggling to post or I have creativity block, I have a few things in place to help me.

⌛I have a time set aside for writing and working on photos. Typically, I do the bulk of my work in the morning. For me, that is when I find my mind to be the freshest.

🚴‍♂️Some of inspiration comes from my weekly bike rides. This is when I clear my mind of different things going on, and I am able to get some of my ideas.

🎶I typically listen to music while I write and work on photos. Often it is instrumental jazz, but sometimes I change it up a bit.

Those are just some of the things I do to keep going.

I took these photos while hiking at Crowders Mountain last year. Crowder’s Mountain was once a mine. Back in the 1970’s it was going to be turned into a mine. The local community wanted to preserve the land, and so they encouraged the state to preserve it. They had seen what mining can do to an area, and they wanted to state to save the mountain. The funds were put together to acquire the land and the mountain. Now it is a popular spot for hikers and groups to enjoy.

  1. I can relate to the “oh, so many photos to deal with…” feeling. One thing that helps with my creativity when I’m not feeling it is to put on music. I have two albums that will usually relax me enough that the spark of creativity emerges and I can get going on something.

  2. I enjoyed seeing your beautiful photography and learning of your creative process. My writing ebbs and flows. Since I’m not a professional making a living with my creative art forms or feel I must post regardless of how I feel, I am usually quite relaxed about it all. For example, my posts on WordPress are in flow while my Instagram posts have been in ebb for several months. Like you perhaps, sometimes I do feel I must ‘go out in my kimono and pjs to feed the birds’ whatever the weather. 😂 Thanks for ‘feeding the birds’ with your beautiful photos today!🤗
