“Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it.” – George Halas

I have been fortunate to have been able to visit some incredible places over the last few years. The travel bug didn’t really hit me until 2017 when we went on our first cruise out of New Orleans. That was the first time I had ever left the country. I didn’t travel much as a child, and at one point in my life I was traveling only to see family. Now, I don’t have to do that anymore, many of our trips have been used to explore new places. As we have travelled to these new places, I have learned that it’s not just the destination that is important, but the journey is as well. Some of my favorite photos that I have taken on a trip are not the ones at the destination, but the ones I took while on the journey to arrive.

I took these photos back in 2021 when we took a day trip to Ashville, N.C. Along the way we stopped to see Catawba Falls. These photos are not of the actual falls, but of the creek that runs along the trail. The walk to the top was as amazing as the falls itself. It’s tempting to just keep my camera in the bag and just keep walking. If I did that, I would miss out on incredible moments like this.
