On the Way Up

“All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward.” – Ellen Glasgow

I love taking a good hike. Getting out and just being out in nature with some fresh air does me a lot of good. I try to go outside at least once during the weekend. It might range from cutting the grass to riding my bike around Charlotte. My favorite though is when I get to hike and explore a new location. Whenever I travel, I try to find new places to hike and see. Sometimes I find great places right in my area, and other times I find great locations while I traveling out of town. Some hikes happen in a city and others happen while I am out of town. I love going out and exploring. The payoff can be seeing some great views and capturing them with my camera, and other times it is just being outside that helps clear my mind for the week ahead.

I took these photos while hiking at Crowders Mountain last year. Crowder’s Mountain was once a mine. Back in the 1970’s it was going to be turned into a mine. The local community wanted to preserve the land, and so they encouraged the state to preserve it. They had seen what mining can do to an area, and they wanted to state to save the mountain. The funds were put together to acquire the land and the mountain. Now it is a popular spot for hikers and groups to enjoy.
