Keep Going

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” – Thomas A. Edison

I love that quote by Thomas Edison. There are so many times where it seems like giving up is the best option. As you look at everything and think that nothing is working, and even if you keep trying it’s not going to work out the way you planned it. However, if you have been given a vision about something then you have to keep going to see it happen. I will share with you an example of this. Last school year, the group I was teaching was difficult to reach. From all indicators, it looked like standardized testing was not going to go well at the end of the year. I could have just given up and said it is was it. However, I decided to keep trying to teach this group of students, and it paid off. Most of my students showed growth that year. If I had given up in early May then I would not have seen the results that I saw at the end of May. I knew I was close to a breakthrough, and that’s why I kept going.

I took these photos back in 2021 while I was riding my bike around Uptown Charlotte. The trees in Charlotte bloom once a year right before spring. I try to photograph as many of them as I can because I know that it doesn’t last long.
