A Walk off the Path

“We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” – John Dryden

When I visit a new place, I have a habit of just walking around to check it out. With my camera and GoPro in my hand, I walk around an area to see watch scenes or objects I want to capture. I try not to get too far off the path or too away from where I started. One of my goals is not to get lost. I really enjoy getting lost in the woods because I can share things that most don’t see on a daily basis.

A few weeks ago, I visited Hamilton Branch State Park to visit some family. We were staying in Augusta, and the park was close by so we headed up there for the afternoon. At one point everyone was swimming in the lake, so I decided to walk around with my camera for a little bit. Hamilton Branch State Park is located near the border of Georgia and South Carolina. The park sits on Strom Thurmond Lake. It has a few trails, a great view of the lake, and a nice campground.
