Where To?

Where To?

Sometimes the big mystery over the summer is what am I going to do on a particular day. For me, I usually plan it out the week before or sometimes even the day before. As summer begins to come to an end, the days are becoming more planned for me. Last week, I finished a science workshop on the new science standards starting in 2024. That’s a big deal for me for a couple of reasons. 1) I love teaching science. 2) Science is a testing sub for 5th graders in North Carolina. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with different colleagues and learn more about how to be more effective as a science teacher. What are the next steps for me as summer comes to an end?

👨‍🏫 This last week I attended a 3-day workshop learning more about how to teach students where English is not the primary language at home.

🏫 I will be heading to my new classroom to start setting things up. Last time I was there I saw some odd items in the cabinets, and I might need to do a little house cleaning before I get everything set up.

🏡 I still have a few projects I want to get done around the house before school starts back up.

🌳 I want to spend some more time outdoors if the weather cooperates.

I took this photo at a park called The Green in Uptown Charlotte. It is a park that has literacy as a theme. There are book quotes by famous authors, the names of famous authors on street signs, and the artwork promotes literacy among children. This sign in particular shows the distance for different cities named Charlotte all across the United States.
