“Exploration is really the essence of the human spirit.” – Frank Borman

When I travel, I am always looking for a new experience to try. Whenever we look for places to eat out at, we try to find places that we don’t have here in Charlotte. We try to avoid chain restaurants as much as possible, and look for unique restaurants that we wouldn’t be able to experience at home. I look for different shops in the area. I’m not looking for souvenirs, but for unique items that I wouldn’t find at home. Finally, I look for opportunities to take pictures. I try to not only capture the popular tourist spots, but I also look for hidden gems that an area might have as well. I find these by heading off the trail, or seeing different things at a location or a landscape photo of the location.

Last month, my wife and I took a weekend getaway to Durham, North Carolina while our kids were at church camp. One morning while we were there, we walked around a park called the West Point at Eno. The park was called West Point because it was the furthest west location of a mail route. The park has several historical sites featuring a working mill and a photography museum. These photos are of an old tobacco barn that was used to dry and cure tobacco years ago.
