❓️What I didn’t find in those cabinets yesterday❓️

I know most of my posts here are about photography and the amazing places I have been able to visit over the years. My true passion is teaching. I have been teaching for the last 11 years in Charlotte, N.C.

While the room I took over this year has a lot of stuff, what is missing is basic school supplies such as pencils, markers, notebooks, and erasers. While I am at a new school this year, the needs are still there. I will be teaching at a Title I school meaning the majority of my students qualify for free lunch based on their parents’ income. Many of them come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken at home. Also, academic needs are high due to many factors, but education as a whole is still trying to recover from the effects of the pandemic.

So how can you support me this school year?

1) Share this post or if I have the link in my post share it to your Instagram stories.

2) Buy a pack of pencils. Pencils are the number one supply that I use in my classroom. Many parents do buy pencils for their children, but it is rarely enough for them to get through the school year. I know I am not asking for the lower priced option, but that brand of pencils is a few more than Amazon’s brand while lasting a lot longer in the classroom.

3) I did list several items that would help make life easier in my classroom, and a few books to promote learning in my classroom.

4) If you don’t support me, find a teacher to support. If you have children or grandchildren in school, ask their teacher what additional items they need to have a successful school year. If your child’s teacher has a successful school year then your child will have a successful school year as well. Buying an extra pack of pencils to share with the class goes a long way in supporting a classroom.
