It’s Okay to Fear Change

“Change can be scary, but you know what’s scarier? Allowing fear to stop you from growing, evolving, and progressing.” – Mandy Hale

Change can be scary. I am an elementary school teacher and for the first time in 11 years, I am starting at a new school. I have taught 4th and 5th, but teaching 5th grade is where I thrive. Today is my first official day there. I am nervous because I was used to everything. I knew where every room was located, every place in the school, and where students needed to be for just about everything. Now I couldn’t even tell you how to get to my new classroom. This is a big deal for me. However, I knew I was at a place at my last school where I couldn’t grow anymore. Last school year, I knew it was time to make a change. I start at my new school officially next week. I have been back for a couple days to start getting things set up.

I took these photos on a hike I took at South Mountain State Park in North Carolina last year. We were camping nearby, and my son and I decided to check it out one morning. This is a beautiful park filled with streams and waterfalls. The hike to the falls wasn’t too bad, and the views were amazing. I must have taken over 100 photos while we were hiking there. There were so many amazing and beautiful scenes it was hard to capture everything.

I want to learn from you. What big changes have you made recently, and what lessons did you learn along the way? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
