Be Ready – Throwback Thursday

“I am prepared for the worst, but hope for the best.” – Benjamin Disraeli

Sometimes I wonder if I have too much in my camera bag. I have a couple of different bags that I use depending on the situation. I have a smaller bag that I bring with me when I am riding my bike and going somewhere with a lot of walking. It holds my camera, an extra lens, and a few other items. I have a larger bag that goes with me when I go out of town. It holds everything. It has all of my lenses, extra batteries, a charger, a spot for my tripod, my filters, my flash, a battery charger for my cell phone, and my GoPro stuff. Needless to say, I have a lot with me when I go out and take photos. Sometimes I will go somewhere and only use the basics. Other times, I will use almost every item in my bag at one time. Sometimes, it’s best to be prepared for anything.

I took these photos last year when the family and I went camping in the mountains. We stayed at a campground near Bryson City, North Carolina. I was walking around the campground on our first night there looking for any photo opportunities I could find. It had rained all day, and had stopped just in time for me to make dinner. The sun showed itself right as it was going down for the day. Between the low clouds and the mountains, it made for a nice ending to the day. These photos I took of it didn’t do it justice. Good thing I brought my 55-150 mm lens with me, or I wouldn’t have been able to capture this moment. This was one moment I was glad I brought everything with me.
