“Happiness is a direction, not a place.” – Sydney J. Harris
When we focus on our accomplishments, we only talk about when we arrive. Rarely do we share about how we got there. I do this as a teacher. When we people look at how my students did on standardized testing for the last few years, they ask me how I did it. I naturally just focus on that one moment, and talk about how my students gave their best efforts on the test. I rarely talk about the planning, the instruction, the classroom culture that I had been building since day one, and my knowledge of the content students are supposed to learn. It was the journey that allowed me to reach my destination. It is the journey that teaches me the lessons along the way in order to make me better. We have to remember how we arrived at our destination.
I took this photo back when we were on our cruise in the Bahamas. I love watching the sunset and sunrise over the ocean. The weather didn’t cooperate for me to see a good sunrise this trip, but I was able to capture some amazing sunsets. We were able to have a balcony room this trip, and we were able to watch the sunset right from our room. I attempted to capture its beauty the best I could.
