“Photography can be a way into worlds and memories that words sometimes fail to convey.” – Stacy Martin

I like to consider myself a photographer. But based on the definition of a photographer I’m not sure if I can call myself that because I don’t make money doing it. Maybe technically I am an amateur photographer. I enjoy capturing what I see while visiting different places. My goal is to always to try and find something most people don’t see on a daily basis. I look for different perspectives and views that I can capture in order to see something in a new way. Whether it be a landscape or a city view, I also try to look for overlooked places and objects to bring attention to them. I will do this often by stopping at random places on the side of the road so I can get the photo I want.

Last July, my wife and I took a weekend getaway trip to Durham, North Carolina. Our kids were away at church camp, so we took advantage of the time to do something together. We spent most of the day walking around town, looking at the different shops, and eating at some local restaurants. At one point, we decided to visit this coffee shop that had different plants in it. My wife is a fan of indoor plants. When we parked, I saw this strange object not too far from where we were parked at. After we finished at the coffee shop, I took my camera over and captured it. For some reason, this thing just looked neat to me.
