Eyes on the Prize

“Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal.”- E. Joseph Cossman

Whenever we try to do a long task or set about a big goal for ourselves, it’s easy to lose our focus on the goal. We live in a culture that has no patience for anything. For example, if we are watching a movie on streaming, and we see the circle on the screen showing that it is loading, we might last 30 seconds before we start threatening our internet provider to fix it or we switch. Confession, I am guilty of this. I get frustrated when things don’t happen in the time that I expect them to. One thing I have been working on in the last few years is to focus on the long term. It’s easy to over focus on the obstacles that are ahead of us, but if we look back at the obstacles that we have already overcome. When we look back to see what we have beaten, we realize that we can continue towards our goals.

Recently, I have been going through photos that I took last year and never posted. I keep finding just some great gems that I have shown everyone yet. I took these photos last fall at Marshall Park in Uptown Charlotte. Marshall Park is a small urban park with a pond and a view of the city. It’s close to my house, and I go there often to practice my photography skills.
