“It is easy to sit up and take notice, what is difficult is getting up and taking action.” – Honore de Balzac

Do you ever wonder how different places get their name? How do different streets get their names? I always wonder why places are called what they are called. I know sometimes the different names of places can be controversial based on who or what they are named after. The names of waterfalls make me curious. Most are named after what they are near from different towns to various rivers. Some are named after the previous owner of the land. The falls that are on the campus I went to school at is called Toccoa, which in Native American means beautiful. There was this one waterfall called Big Bear Falls. I hope I don’t meet the reason they called it that.

These photos I took at South Mountain State Park are some of my favorites that I have taken this year. My son and I hiked to this point together. Since I had been practicing my photography, I was able to capture these great photos of High Shoals Waterfalls. When we visited, we hiked two different trails. We started on the short river trail when we first arrived, and then found the main waterfall trail. By the time we arrived at the lower part of the falls we were so tired from hiking everywhere else, we decided that we were done at that point. So, I took as many photos as I could, and then we decided to head back to our campground.
