On or Off the Path?

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” – Robert Frost

Often when I am out taking photos, I am faced with Robert Frost’s dilemma. Do I stay on the path that I am currently on and see the most popular part of where I am at, or do I go where fewer people are located? Both routes have their advantages. If I go the most traveled route, I will see what everyone is talking about, and I can see why the location I am at is so popular. If I take the route less taken, I might be able to capture a photo to show people something or somewhere they have not seen before. Both ways are opportunities, and both ways can show me something that I have not seen before. In the end, I chose based on my mood and who I am with. If I am alone, I try to see it all, but if I have others with me, I focus on the popular locations in order to respect their time.

I took these photos back in August while I was riding my bike around Freedom Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. I try to ride my bike here as often as I can because there are many opportunities for great photos at this part. This park is an example of somewhere I have taken photos on and off the path. These photos in particular were taken off the path. Little Sugar Creek runs right by the park, and I like to walk down and see what opportunties for photos I can find.

Below are some of the popular spots in Freedom Park that I have taken photos of before.
