“Say something positive, and you’ll see something positive.” – Jim Thompson

Last weekend, while riding my bike around Uptown Charlotte, I stumbled upon this painted rock at Marshall Park. I remember at the beginning of the pandemic; I would see them all over the Rail Trail. I haven’t seen one out in a while. This one that I found was a good reminder, “Don’t Worry.” For me, I know what don’t worry looks like, and how to explain it to others. Often times people will say “don’t worry,” but have no idea how to help someone get to that place. Often times when I am observed while teaching, someone will say I need to improve in this area, but won’t take the time to explain or even show what it looks like. The same is true when people say “don’t worry.” Often, they say it to others, feel good for saying it, and the person who needs real encouragement is still wanting.

When I stumbled on this rock last week, I instantly decided to create an Instagram story on it. For me, when I see a rock that says don’t worry, my mind instantly goes to how I don’t worry. For me, my faith is the reason why I don’t worry. Don’t worry means that God is in control, and no matter what He is watching over me and my circumstances.
The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. – Psalms 121:5-8
