A Little Behind

“You always admire what you really don’t understand.” – Blaise Pascal

Lately, I haven’t been posting on my blog like a normally do. Typically, I try to have content post once a day during the week, but the last few weeks have been busy for me. The first quarter of the school year is usually the busiest for me. From getting to know my students to parent teacher conferences, there is a never-ending amount work I have to do. This Friday I will have my first day off since September. While it is a busy time of year for me, it is the most important. The first quarter of the school year sets the tone for the rest of the year. From establishing expectations with students to connecting with parents in order to support their child. Some of you might be thinking that you haven’t had a day off either. Here is the difference between teaching and most other occupations. I typically work at home after hours for at least 10 hours a week. I have to stay after school at least once a week for a after school meeting. I work the same number of hours in ten months that most people work in 12. Needless to say, I am looking forward to being off on Friday.

I took these photos last year when my wife and I took a day trip up to the mountains. We drove over the Mount Mitchell, the highest point in the United States east of the Mississippi River. It was a long walk up the hill, but the view was worth it. Not only is there a great view, but the park is filled with great trails that let you see the different parts of the mountain. These are a few of the photos I took on the way down from the top. Where is your favorite place to hike at?
