“Change is the end result of all true learning.” – Leo Buscaglia

Too often we overlook things because we don’t pay attention to the details. We either forget a step or try to cut something out in order to make it easier. This is an issue I have personally. Typically, I want a task to be over with in order for me to move on to the next thing. There have been times when I have tried to rush to complete something, and then realize later I didn’t do it the right way and it takes me longer to get it right. I used to do this when I would go somewhere taking photos. I would go to a place and snap a few photos, and the move on. Later, I would find out that I either missed something or I ones I did take were not the best by either being blurry or not framed up correctly. The best lesson I have learned for myself over the years is to always read the directions and to take my time.

Speaking of details, I took these photos a few weeks ago when I was walking down the Little Sugar Creek Greenway near Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. I typically ride my bike down that way, but I didn’t have the time that weekend, so I drove down there to take a quick walk. Typically, when I ride my bike with my camera, I don’t bring all of my gear because it will weigh me down. Since I was walking, I decided to bring everything with me, and I was able to use my larger lens to zoom in on this berry bush. Little did I realize while I was taking the photo that there were some bugs enjoying the berries. It was a small detail I overlooked while taking the photos, but fortunately for me it didn’t ruin the photos.

These berries with that deep color can latch onto a photographer in a heart beat. They grow wild here and I believe they are a Beautyberry. So I’ve been told anyway. I hope so because I’m having some plantings done around the backwoods behind my house and Beautyberry bushes are being planted.
