Singecat Ridge Overlook – The Blue Ridge Parkway

“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony.” – Thomas Merton

I am a fan of the simple things in life. I enjoy a good cup of coffee, an evening by a nice fire, or just simply being outside. I have found out that the easier it is to make being happiness, the more often I am able to experience. By requiring a certain set of conditions in order to be happy, it is easy to miss out on the simple joys of life. I used to only take photos when we traveled somewhere. Rarely would I take my camera out while we were in town. Then the pandemic started, and we didn’t really travel for over a year. During that time, I wanted to take photos, but knew I wouldn’t be going anywhere new for a while. I started riding my bike around town, and I found there were some pretty cool places near my house that I could capture with my camera. So, I started to bring my camera with me when I rode my bike around Uptown Charlotte. This allowed me to still enjoy photography, but I was also able to practice more. The extra practice allowed me to take more advantage of it when we visited a new place.

Last fall, my son and I took a day trip to the mountains together. We went to Old Fort, North Carolina, and checked out Curtis Creek. We followed the dirt road all the way up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We headed towards Marion, North Carolina for lunch. One the way there we stopped by the Singecat Ridge Overlook. The weather was not perfect that day. It rained most of the time we were there. But we were still able to enjoy the great views, and I was able to capture some pretty good photos. We took a few photos, enjoyed the view, and then headed back down the road.
