Set Yourself Up

“A great work is made out of a combination of obedience and liberty.” – Nadia Boulanger

In order to be sucessful, you have to put yourself in a position to do so. You can’t just wake up one day and say, “I’m going to do it right today.” It takes planning and time in order to pull off the right execution. I learned this a few years ago as a teacher. I used to stay up for hours trying to create the best lessons only to see them fall flat the next day. During the pandemic I realized that I needed to priortize things such as rest and personal time in order to be successful in the classroom. I didn’t need to work more outside of my classroom, I needed to work smarter in order to be successful. Now I only work outside of school hours on certain days during the week, and I stick to it. I also removed all school apps from my cell phone. This allows me to focus on what’s important in that moment. When I work on things for school, I focus on it, but by allow myself to not be on the job 24/7, it allows me time to rest and recharge before work.

I took these photos at Jump Off Rock near Hendersonville, North Carolina. I was looking for a good place with a great view and easy access, and this was it. It does have a few hiking trails nearby if you are interested.
