Remember Your Wins

“One forgives to the degree that one loves.”- Francois de La Rochefoucauld

Often times when we look back at different moments on our life, we allow the defeats to overshawdow the victories. We allow those moments to define who we are and what we have become. We even do the same for others. I see this a lot of a teacher. A teacher’s first year is unlike any other. Not only only is the teacher learning new content to teach, they are learning how to be a good employee, and figuring out their style of teaching to maximize student success while at the same time expected to be successful with students. It’s a lot for one person to do in one year, and often times they are judged for the rest of their career for what they did that first year. What we have to do is not look at someone’s success as a fluke, but instead appreciate them for what they are doing now. We have to be the same way with ourselves by allowing our present and past victories to tell our story.

One of my favorite places to ride my bike at is the Little Sugar Creek Greenway in Charlotte, North Carolina. This Greenway goes just about through the entire county. This spot in particular is one of my favorites because it is in Uptown Charlotte. When you are there, you don’t feel like you are right on the edge of a major urban area, but you get the feeling that you are alone in nature.
