Let’s Get Close

“Photograph: a picture painted by the sun without instruction in art.” – Ambrose Bierce

There are advantages and disadvantages to using a camera instead of just a cell phone in order to take pictures. To me, the biggest disadvantage is having a camera means you have one more thing to carry with you when you travel from place to place. Sometimes the extra gear gets in the way. However, that’s the only disadvantage I can think of. I prefer bringing my camera with me for many reasons. 1) I can zoom in closer with my camera than my cell phone. My phone has a pretty good zoom on it, but it’s not close to not 500mm. 2) My camera does a better job on focusing on a subject. Phones have low mm on there lens, and typically don’t focus in on any particular subject, unless the software does it for you. 3) Finally, I do better capturing photos with a view finder. It’s easier for me to target my subject, and see what the camera is going to capture.

A few weeks ago, I bought a Nikon Z7ii camera. I have been using it as often as possible. A few weeks ago I borrowed my dad’s 2000mm lens. I have been practicing around my house with it for now. It’s an awesome lens, but super heavy. Hopefully, I will be able to practice more with it soon.
