Sunrise

“We must seek the loving-kindness of God in all the breadth and open-air of common life.” – George A. Smith

Getting up early is a normal part of my life now. Before my kids went to middle school, I thought getting up around 7 was early. Most days I’m getting up around 5:30 on the regular. Now sleeping until 7 is sleeping in. This is why you will notice that most of the time, I am posting around 6 am. After I shower, I come into the living room to help my kids get ready for the bus. While they are getting ready, I prepare my post of the day. Writing first thing in the morning, gives me clarity and focus. My mine is at it’s sharpest once I take that first sip of coffee as I start getting ready.

We spent last Christmas in the Bahamas. Since I am use to getting up early normally, I like to get up, go grab a coffee, and watch the sunrise. Typically when I do this on vacation, I have to plan it out because I don’t want to wake everyone up before I go. I had my camera bag packed, my clothes laid out and my alarm set. I got up, rushed towards to top deck, and waited. At first, I thought that I had missed it because it was already light outside, so I went in to the dining hall to enjoy my coffee out of the wind. I looked up and saw the sun coming through the clouds, and I went out as quickly as I could to capture these shots.
