“People only see what they are prepared to see.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

When you look at the photos in this post, what do you see? I’m sure you see a beautiful stream in the fall. For me, when I look at the photos in this post, I see so much more. The beauty of photography is when I take a photo, edit it, and then post later the memories of that photo come to mind. What you don’t see if what is happenig behind the lens. Behind the lens you have me taking the photo and my son not too far behind me. When I see this photo I see more than a fall scene, I see a trip my son and I took the mountains together last year. You might not also see the weather in these shots. It was a raining off and on most of the day while we were there, but that didn’t stop us from having a great day together. For me, photography is much more than what is captured in the frame, but the memories associated with the photo.

Last fall, my son and I took a day trip up to Curtis Creek, North Carolina. Curtis Creek is located near Old For, N.C. What I love about Curtis Creek is most of the great views can be seen right from your car. You don’t have to hike far to see some of the best views in the mountains. After checking Curtis Creek, we followed the dirt road all the way to Blue Ridge Parkway, and then headed to Marion, N.C.
