“We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” – John Dryden

We all have habits. Some are good, some are bad. The truth is our habits tend to define who we are. For example, I have to watch what I eat because I need to avoid foods high in sodium. That can be tricky because most prepackaged foods have a lot of salt in them. One snack that I like that doesn’t have too much salt in it is Skinny Pop. I eat Skinny Pop every day as my snack when I take my class out to recess. When other teachers eat Skinny Pop, students would wonder why they were eating Mr. Griffin’s snacks. That one habit connected that food with me. Our habits show who we are as a person. The habits that shine define who we are. Look for habits that might be holding you back. From the basics of being on time to something to destructive habits, if those are defining us then that is a sign they need to be changed (Note: destructive habits in general need to be corrected. Others being aware of it can be a sign for change). Take a moment, examine your habits, and strengthen those that are positive.

I took these photos last fall when my son and I took a day trip up to Curtis Creek. Curtis Creek is located near Old Fort, North Carolina in the mountains. I have always loved visiting Curtis Creek because I get to see amazing views without having to hike too far from my truck.
