Up We Go – Throwback Thursday

“Metaphors have a way of holding the most truth in the least space.” – Orson Scott Card

One thing I love about summer is that I have the opportunity to check out different places around Charlotte. I usually don’t have that much time during the school year due to work and other family obligations. Even though I am working this summer, I have been able to take some time and see a lot of different things. Even though we are not planning any big trips this summer, we have been able to sneak in some fun day trips here and there.

A few years ago, my son and I decided to take a day trip and hike up to Crowders Mountain. Crowder’s Mountain was once a mine. Back in the 1970’s it was going to be turned into a mine. The local community wanted to preserve the land, and so they encouraged the state to preserve it. They had seen what mining can do to an area, and they wanted to state to save the mountain. The funds were put together to acquire the land and the mountain. Now it is a popular spot for hikers and groups to enjoy. Once we got to the top, we chilled out there for a little, I took some photos, and we headed back down.
