“Patience is the companion of wisdom.” – Saint Augustine

One of the things I’ve had to work on my entire life is patience. I have never been a fan of waiting on something. The hardest thing for me to wait for is the results from hard work. I would like to see the results now. Truth is, if it is worthwhile, that won’t happen. I see this professionally a lot. As a teacher, it might take all year working with a student before I finally start to see the results. That can be frustrating, but being patient with the results pays off.

Some of my favorite photos that I have taken are sunset photos. Great sunset photos are all about the right timing and the right position. My favorite place to take sunset photos is over the water. The water typically reflects the light, adding to its beauty. I took this photo on the last cruise we were on during spring break. The timing wasn’t hard to get down because of the weather forecast, but I needed to get in the right position to see the sun. In order to do this, I had to squeeze myself in between the railing and the stairs. I could have gone up higher in the boat to avoid this, but for me the shots turn out better if I am closer to the water. After I was in the right position at the right time, I started to snap away.
