“It is not love that should be depicted as blind, but self-love.” – Voltaire

When I first read the quote above it didn’t make any sense to me. What is he talking about? However, as I thoght about it, I realized the idea he was convaing is if you love yourself more than others, you are blind to the world around you. There is nothing wrong with caring about yourself, but when you prioritize yourself over others on a consistant basis, then you are unable to be aware of those who need support. As a society, we have to stop focusing on ourselves, and show concern for others.

I took these photos last summer while I was riding my bike around Uptown Charlotte. I stopped by Marshall Park for a moment to sit and enjoy an iced coffee while snapping photographs of what I saw.
