“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” – Desmond Tutu

One of my favorite places to visit in the fall is Curtis Creek near Old Fort, North Carolina. The views are fantastic, and you can see the best views right from your car. I’ve been visiting these places since I was a kid with my dad. I’ve brought my kids up here a few times. We ride up the road following the creek and then hit the Blue Ridge Parkway at the end of it. One way we can go is to head to Asheville or Marion depending on what else we want to do that day.

If you have been watching the news at all over the last few days, you know that the Western North Carolina Mountains have been absolutely devastated by Hurricane Helene. I wanted to take this week and show off the beauty of these areas that have been impacted. I also wanted to promote different non-profits supporting the region. The American Red Cross is on the ground in different parts of the region offering aid and assistance. To donate, go to their website at https://www.redcross.org/.
