Craggy Gardens

“The greatest use of a life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.” – William James

Back in 2020, we were tired of being stuck at the house and stuck in Charlotte. Our escape from the craziness of that year was the mountains. We planned a day trip to hang out on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We took a drive up to Curtis Creek, and followed the road all the way to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We tried to stop at Mount Mitchell, but it was closed and there was no place to park at the overlooks of it. We eventually made it to Craggy Gardens. These photos were taken around the visitor’s center. It was much needed break from the madness.

The reason why I am posting photos of Western North Carolina is to bring awareness to the region. The area was devastated by Hurricane Helene, and it will take years for the region and the people there to recover. I wanted to highlight the nonprofits in the area working to help the people there. Samaritan’s Purse has been working around the clock bringing aid and supplies to the region. If you are looking for a way to help, check out their website at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/ to donate or send supplies.

Check out this video I took of Curtis Creek while on this trip.
