Just Another Day

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” – Albert Einstein

Today is Election Day here in the United States. Many people in the country are anxious about what’s going to happen after today. In years past we would know who won the election either late in the evening, or early the next morning. However, this year will be more like 2020, and we will not know who won until a few days later. This election is insanely close, and could be decided by a few thousand votes.

If you are anxious about what is going to happen today, I am going to give you some free advice. One, treat today like it is a normal day. Whatever you were planning to do on a Tuesday, do it. In reality this is just another day. Two, do something that gives you peace. Take a walk outside, exercise, read a book, or watch your favorite movie. Do something that will bring you peace and joy. Three, don’t watch the news media’s coverage for tonight. If you want to know how it is going, check the news on your phone or tablet once or twice, but don’t stay up watching it. We won’t know tonight anyways, so it makes more sense to relax and get some rest.

My plans for today are to go to a workshop learning more about how to coach other teachers, go pick up some free school supplies for my students, come home, make dinner, and spend time with my family. I already voted, so I took care of that already.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” – John 14:27

A great part about fall, roasting marshmellows over a fire over a cool night.
