Look Forward

“When all else is lost, the future still remains.” – Christian Nestell Bovee

It’s easy to allow the past to define you. The past shapes who we are. We cannot deny our past because the moments in it are the lens through which we look at life. The past can be your best tool, but it can also be your worst enemy. If we allow the past to remind us of our limitations and shortcomings, it could hinder us in the future by creating doubts. I remember that, as a teacher at my last school, things were going well for me, but I started to think that I might not be as successful as I believed. I would think of how things were in my first year teaching where I struggled, and think that was going to be like it was then. Those doubts clouded my judgment at some points, but I was able to overcome them because I compared how things were then and now. I was able to see the difference, and that allowed me to use the past as a guide. Using the past as a guide is how I was able to move forward in the future.

I took these photos last December while my family and I were on a cruise in the Bahamas. We had a stop at Half Moon Cay. These photos were taken in the afternoon after we had spent the day on the beach.

I took this video as we were cruising into the area.
