Black and White Neon

“It is not enough to have a good mind; the main thing is to use it well.” – Rene Descartes

I have always been a fan of black and white photography. I don’t practice it often, but I enjoy it when I get the opportunity to. The thing I love about it is how the details come out more. The shadows have more value, the details come out more, and the subjects are more pronounced. While black and white photography might seem old fashioned, it’s still a form that I enjoy.

I took the photos of this sign a few months back. Ratcliffe’s Flowers has been closed since the late 1980’s. The sign still stands. This sign has been designated a historical landmark in Charlotte, and has been preserved since then. The building that was there was moved to a different part of town when the underground parking deck was built. The Ratcliffe’s Flowers sign is located in Uptown Charlotte next to the park known as The Green.

Check out this black and white video I made.
