It Was a Good Surprise

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop

The other night I decided to catch up on some work while watching TV, and I got a surprise email in my Inbox. If you haven’t already, scroll down to see it.

At the beginning of every school year, I set up a @donorschoose fundraiser. Usually it doesn’t get funded, but I was surprised to see that it was fully funded on Black Friday. Apparently, a couple of people had donated to the project and donations were doubled by the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation.

Everything I asked for was for teaching science. I ordered two carts to use while teaching force and motion. I did get some from my district, but they didn’t give me enough for every group to use. This way more students will be able to use them and see them up close. I also ordered a model of the human body. He was by far the most expensive item purchased on this order. I do a whole unit on body systems, and it will be a great way for my students to see how it works. The other items I ordered were a hot plate with an automatic shut off (for safety purposes), two globes for teaching weather, and an extra lab coat.

Thank you to everyone who donated!
