Up the Stairs – Flashback Friday

“A good beginning makes a good end.” – Louis L’Amour

We have been to the Bahamas three times, and just about every time we have gone it has rained. The first time we went it poured all day. Typically, when we think of visiting an island on vacation, we think that it’s going to be all sun and a nice breeze. Sometimes you go, and it’s raining the entire time. It has to rain there sometime I guess, and the times it rained I just happened to be there. We didn’t consider it a complete bummer. We were able to see some cool sites, and check out different parts of the island.

These photos are of the Queen’s Staircase. There are 66 steps to recognize the 66-year reign of Queen Elizabeth. The relationship between the Carribean and the British Monarchy is complicated (that’s the nicest way to put it). This was built to mark the end of that rule. I climbed all 66 steps when we visited. It was raining some while I did, and at first, I wasn’t too happy with the photos I took, looking back, I think they turned out pretty good.
