“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony.” – Thomas Merton

We are told that happiness can occur when something intense happens. From our favorite team winning the game to a potato chip that is so good that it brings out intense feelings. It’s hard to have those feelings all the time. Our favorite team doesn’t always win, and sometimes a bag of chips can be a disappointment. There are things we can easily control to maintain a general level of happiness. These are things that have helped me. The first thing that always comes to mind for me is sleep. Too often we don’t get enough sleep. Sleeping goes a long way. Also, having routines. I generally get up at the same time every day. I have certain things that I make sure I do before the start of the day. Finally, for me, it’s my hobby of photography. This gives me a way to express myself through taking photos and writing about the photos. Happiness can be achieved with balance.

I took these photos at one of the places that makes me happy. Freedom Park is my favorite place to ride my bike to. These are a few photos I took of the park a few years ago.
