The Founder

“We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” – E. M. Forster

I think it is a good idea to know the history of where you are. Too often, we know where we are, but we don’t know where we come from. I think it is important to know the history of not only your country, but also your local region. You would be surprised to see how much of the past influences the now. The best way to learn more about the history of your area is to dedicate a day. Be a tourist in your hometown. Take a day and explore. Go to a museum that covers the history of the area, and check out some of the different monuments. You will be surprised with what you learn.

Last November, I decided to take my son on a tour of Augusta, GA, where I grew up. It started because my son said that Augusta didn’t have a downtown. I wanted to prove him wrong, and we drove him down to see downtown Augusta. We took a tour of downtown. We checked out some of the different places. Then, we walked over to one of the parks in downtown. This statue is in the center of the park. It is of James Oglethorpe, the founder of Augusta. He started Augusta as a way to protect the trade among the Native Americans of the region.
