“A great work is made out of a combination of obedience and liberty.” – Nadia Boulanger

When you ask someone about the news, you will definitely get an opinion about it. Some people state they only get their news from one source. Others say they never look at the news because it’s never anything good. The truth is both opinions are valid. Many news sources today cater to a certain audience. They do this to get them to continue to tune in. Often times, they make everything seem like the worst-case scenario. Many bad things are happening in the world. Still, good things are also occurring but are often ignored. Nevertheless, I think it’s important to stay informed about what is happening. Understanding how the world works is essential. The best way to do that is to keep up with the news. For me, the best way is to read it. I get a general sense of what is going on more quickly by reading. This takes less time than watching.

Before my grandfather retired, he worked for the newspaper. I believe my obsession with the news came from him. I would always watch the evening news with him while growing up. Last November, I took my camera with me to downtown Augusta, Georgia, and took some photos of it. I grew up in Augusta, and it had been a while since I had seen downtown. These photos are of the newspaper he used to work at, the Augusta Harold.

Here is a black and white movie I made a while ago.
