“The eternal quest of the individual human being is to shatter his loneliness.” – Norman Cousins

One of my favorite movies of all time is Forrest Gump. It combines several of my favorite themes. These include a good story, humor, and history. At one moment in the movie, Forrest decides to go running, and he doesn’t stop. In fact, he runs all across the country. I find the running part inspiring because I do not like to run. I used to like it a bit for fitness. However, I have found other ways to exercise that I enjoy much more. I like being outdoors, but I prefer to ride my bike. To be honest, I can’t get really far running, but I can go a lot further on my bicycle.

A sweatshirt made me think of Forrest Gump. I saw someone wearing it while I was riding my bike. This happened on the Light Rail Trail in the Southend Neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina. I decided to go on a shorter ride. It took me longer to get out than I thought it would. It was also colder than I thought. I figured I would be fine in shorts and a tee-shirt. It was chilly when I was going fast and the sun was blocked by the buildings. Since I took a shorter ride yesterday, I decided to practice something. I had not done street photography in a while. I always get nervous capturing strangers because I don’t want to upset the wrong person. I thought these turned out pretty good, and I thought they looked best in black and white.

If you are into street photography, what advice do you have for me? Share it in the comments.
