“Think where man’s glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.” – William Butler Yeats

Something we do not like to do as a society is wait. We like things to be done right away and as soon as possible. We rush through things to have it over with, and don’t like to take our time with anything. It might sound like I am talking about my 5th graders taking a test. I remember when I was younger, everyone blamed the microwave for humanities lack of patience. Sometimes waiting is a good thing. I remember my wife and I went out to eat a few weeks ago. The service was slow. We were both really hungry. We used the waiting time to talk uninterrupted. We enjoyed each other’s company. There are benefits to waiting.

A few weeks ago, I was riding my bike around Charlotte. I noticed there was a lot of people on the light rail trail on way my back. It was the first soccer game of the season, and a lot of people were walking to the soccer game. The light rail was down for some reason that day, so people going to the game had two options. Wait for the connector bus, which was taking forever, or just walk to Uptown Charlotte. Many people were choosing to walk because it was quicker than waiting on the bus.

Check out this video I captured while riding my bike in Uptown Charlotte on the same day.
